Thuraya climbing heights

Spanish expedition recently climbed the K2 Mountain, which is the tallest peak in Pakistan and the second tallest in the world. The Spanish team, equipped with Thuraya’s satellite communications was in constant touch with the IMTCL team, Thuraya’s distributors in Pakistan. The team provided a regular feedback on Thuraya’s services, and sent images of their mountain climbing expedition by email through a Thuraya terminal.

I work as a mountaineering guide for people climbing the Himalayas and I have been involved in several Mount Everest and other Himalayan expeditions. I have recently climbed the Mount. Everest on 22nd May 2003.

Operation Iraq

Here is an interesting report, which Thuraya’s Customer Services Center has received from the Japan Emergency Team. The Japanese team who are presently carrying out a relief program for the Iraqis had approached Thuraya to assist them with donations such as Thuraya phones, airtime and scratch cards

Thuraya’s service provider in Italy Intermatica, is sponsoring a popular boat race called Rimini-Tremiti- Rimini- a regatta organised since 1984. Thuraya’s service provider, Intermatica will be producing two videos for the event. The first video is “Diario di Bordo” (LOG)- a 12 minute presentation on the race, description of the boat, sailing experiences and an account of transmission systems utilized with a particular focus on Thuraya and finally about the crew and their experiences.

Thuraya- answer to our needs

We have purchased three Thuraya phones for our company, which organizes tours and assists ‘Desert Rallies’ that are held in many different countries. Our kind of business requires constant communication between the rally/tour vehicles and us, but the geographical terrain makes it difficult to use any standard means of communications. That is why we chose Thuraya. Thuraya was the answer to our needs.

Thuraya Attempts K2

Adventure and Thuraya go well together. A team of Romanian climbers carrying a Thuraya phone is now attempting to climb a world famous mountain Massif Karakorum (K2)- the second highest mountain in the world.

Thuraya On Top Of The Everest
