The Thuraya Fleet Management System is designed to assist you in controlling a fleet of vehicles moving across international borders, securing the drivers against assault and the cargo from theft or hijacking - wherever your fleet might be.

Fleet Management Systems based on GSM have proven to be the most reliable and cost effective systems operating - however the disadvantage has been the limited coverage area of GSM.

With Thuraya this obstacle has been removed by using combined satellite and GSM coverage.

Now you can have full coverage in the entire Thuraya footprint, using the same technology as provided by GSM. The result is low cost, high reliability and user-friendly fleet management systems.

Thuraya GlobeFinder

GlobeFinder is a vehicular mounted unit that operates as a part of the Thuraya Fleet Management System.
GlobeFinder is a location and communication unit, designed to fit into all types of vehicles, boats, trailers and trains, exchanging information between the moving unit and an administration centre, such as GlobeCenter or GlobeWeb.

When communicating with the GlobeCenter or GlobeWeb, the GlobeFinder can send up to 12 positions per SMS (Short Messaging Service), depending on the configuration of the system.

This way the communication centre only needs to make requests for information few times a day to have a total overview of the moving units status.

Positions and events can also be accessed whenever needed, since the latest 18.000 positions are stored in the memory of the GlobeFinder.

GlobeFinder registers and stores start, stop, travelled kilometers, opening of doors, oil level or other defined events.

The GlobeFinder unit

In the standard configuration the GlobeFinder consists of two parts; a black box for hidden installation and a small tri-band antenna for external installation.

It is possible to add a range of optional equipment to the GlobeFinder:

  • Personnel or vehicle alarms for protection against theft, hijacking, assault, gas alert or other incidents
  • Telephone handsets restricted to only making calls to the GlobeCenter or only receiving calls
  • “Geo-fencing”, alerts the GlobeCenter if a vehicle is moved unauthorized
  • Data interface connection for handterminals and barcode readers for track and trace solutions

The GlobeFinder will go into immediate alert mode and send out signals to the GlobeCenter regardless the standard configuration of the system, if an alarm has been activated, e.g. a personal hijack alarm.

GlobeCenter

GlobeCenter is a PC server application for Fleet Management, handling communication, positioning, alarms and logistic in a single or multiple user configuration.

GlobeCenter sends and receives positions, communication and alarms from the moving units via a SMS (Short Messaging Service) application. Each moving unit can be individual configured directly from the GlobeCenter, making it possible to change parameters over the air.

The position of the individual moving units are displayed both in a text format and as graphic on digital maps. All digital maps are delivered as per user specifications.

GlobeCenter can be used for:

Security Management:

  • Relocation of stolen vehicles
  • Government agencies providing security and surveillance
  • Security companies

Incoming alarms are handled by GlobeCenter with a user defined procedure, securing all events to be handled as fast and reliable as possible, logging all actions during the alarm status.

GlobeCenter can be used as a part of a total logistic solution, supplying data for billing of customers and information about pick up and delivery of cargo for track and trace solutions.

Reports can also be printed or exported for use in standard PC formats.
GlobeCenter can be set up as a distributed system with a central server and remote clients if desired.

GlobeCenter can be combined with GlobeWeb, offering a supplemental interface via Internet for external users.

GlobeCenter is a dynamic software that can work as a stand alone application - even in remote areas within the Thuraya Satellite coverage area or as fullsize network solutions.

Thuraya GlobeWeb

imageGlobeWeb is a Web browser based user interface presenting the information available in the Thuraya Fleet Management System on specific moving units installed in vehicles, vessels, trailers or trains.

GlobeWeb sends and communicates with the moving units via a SMS (Short Messaging Service) application running on a central GlobeWeb server. This solution is ideal for smaller operations without the need for your own GlobeCenter or a 24 hours service centre.

The GlobeWeb server can be a central service or based on the users own server. This application is integrated with a GlobeCenter solution.

The position of the individual moving units are displayed both in a text format and as graphic on digital maps. GlobeWeb is integrated with constantly updated digital maps covering all areas of the world in details.

It is possible to access the stored data of each moving unit and make printouts of generated reports. Each moving unit can store data on start, stop, travelled kilometres, opening of doors or other defined events such as oil level.

GlobeWeb can be set up to handle an unlimited number of users, each with its own user profile. This way users can be limited to access only authorised information or the specific area they are handling.

GlobeWeb is based on a login module and secure line connections, securing the system from unwanted intruders.
