Thuraya is sponsoring Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman with its latest handsets- Thuraya SG-2520, for their upcoming epic motorbike journey - travelling 24,000 km from John O’Groats in Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa.

The star of numerous films, including the Star Wars prequels, Miss Potter and Trainspotting, Ewan McGregor will travel with fellow actor and friend, Charley Boorman on BMW motorbikes.

The adventure seekers will ride across Libya, through the desolate deserts of Sudan and the tribal wastelands of Ethiopia. From the jungles of Uganda, through Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana and onto the wilds of the Skeleton coast, the dare devil riders will undertake a highly intrepid and dangerous journey.

Thuraya SG-2520 will be their ideal travel companion providing critical communication support in emergency situations and in places where there is no or little GSM coverage.

The BBC’s Long Way Down series is set to run in the UK during the autumn 2007.
