Thuraya Appoints International Service Provider for Eastern Europe

Dubai, UAE:Thuraya has reinforced its service provisioning in East Europe through the signing of an agreement with Slovakia based A-Sat Satellite Telecommunications Company Ltd., as an international service provider.
The service provider agreement was signed in Dubai at Thuraya’s annual service provider forum, a gathering of Thuraya’s global service providers. Presiding over the signing ceremony was Thuraya Chief Executive Yousuf Al Sayed and Jan Cernicky, Director of A-Sat Satellite Telecommunications Company Ltd and Mahmoud Bin Karam, CEO of A-Sat for Arabian and African region.
The agreement gives A-Sat Satellite Telecommunications Company Ltd., full service provider rights to market Thuraya’s mobile satellite services and products throughout Eastern Europe and other countries.
Thuraya’s Chief Executive said, “Eastern European market has been largely underdeveloped for Thuraya. We are confident the addition of A-Sat, a company with extensive experience in telecommunications will greatly help expand our coverage reach.”
On his part, Mr Bin Karam stated: “Thuraya needs no introduction in Eastern Europe markets, and being a Thuraya distributor in the region for more than three years, we completely understand the nature of the market and how the product can fulfill needs.”
Commenting on the huge market the Eastern Europe represents for Thuraya, A-Sat’s Director Mr Cernicky said, “ Being part of fast developing European economies, the people from Eastern European countries– from the common man to elite groups and business travelers– have a dire need for dependable telecommunications services and Thuraya answers this need.”
From his part, A-Sat’s Commercial Director Mr Adam Adamczak added: “Although we have been very actively involved in the distribution and marketing of Thuraya’s services in Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Czech Republic as a distributor previously, we are now looking forward to representing these countries as Thuraya official partners.”
