Thuraya never let us down!
”Thuraya was essential to our expedition. It was through our ThurayaDSL satellite modem that we were able to send all of our dispatches “live” out into the world 21,000 feet (6400 meters) on Everest. During our Everest Climb for Peace, we were able to send out pictures, audio, and even high quality video for the world to see.
Our website, www.EverestPeaceProject.org was voted as having the best expedition dispatches of the season by Mounteverest.net – the premiere Everest and adventure website, and thousand and thousands of people from well over 100 countries were able to see what was happening as it was happening because of our Thuraya DSL satellite modem.
Not to mention Thuraya’s satellite phone played another important role. While we could certainly communicate through email quite effectively (and we did!), hearing your loved-one’s voice is always best experience. Personally, I called my wife every night using my Thuraya phone and two of our “Peace Climbers” – Micha Yaniv and Jamie McGuiness called family members from the summit of Everest! Our Thuraya equipment worked perfectly in the most extreme conditions on Everest; Thuraya never let us down.

Background: Lance Trumbull and his team climbed from the Tibetan side of Everest; I used the DSL satellite modem at base camp (17,500) and advanced base camp (21,000 feet). The Satellite phone was used everywhere, including on the summit of Everest!
