Thuraya Successfully Completes Traffic Diversion from its First Satellite to its Second Satellite

Abu Dhabi , UAE- Following the successful launch of its second satellite into geosynchronous orbit on June 10th of this year, Thuraya has successfully completed the transition stages needed to divert all its traffic to the newly launched satellite, known as Thuraya 2 n.
With this successful transfer, Thuraya has completed a critical step towards guaranteeing uninterrupted service to its wide subscriber base, thereby maintaining Thuraya record of commitment to quality customer service.
Jamal Al Jarwan, Thuraya’s Executive Manager Business Development expressed his complete satisfaction with the transition project: "The Thuraya and Boeing teams have worked together closely on this challenging implementation process, ensuring the precision of every detail. We are pleased that the transition has been taken place completely to our satisfaction, as planned, and that we have been able to meet our customers’ high expectations for exceptional service."

The Thuraya 1 is currently "parked in orbit", both as back-up and in preparation for whatever further expansion options Thuraya chooses to exercise in the future.
