Senior Manager – M2M/IoT

  • The role is for heading the M2M/IoT business at Thuraya. It involves contributing towards building a M2M/IoT strategy and supporting its business and revenue objectives across all market channels. The role will serve as a subject matter expert in IoT/M2M and will focus on the development, launch and sustainability of IoT and M2M product portfolios to ensure revenue growth. Aside from ensuring that the right portfolios of products are developed and made available across all market channels, the role will have a special emphasis on continuous IoT/M2M innovation and effective marketing strategies to position Thuraya as the market leader in the IoT/M2M business stream.
  • Role and Responsibilities

    • Head the M2M/IoT business at Thuraya
    • Build an effective business plan and strategy that will support Thuraya’s IoT/M2M business and revenue objectives.
    • Responsible for the development and delivery of the market strategy and positioning to ensure a solid value proposition for our target customers
    • Lead in the planning, development and launch of IoT/M2M product portfolio.
    • Create innovation plans and improvements for the IoT/M2M product portfolio based on researching new products and assessing the target and current market trends.
    • Responsible for global market development activities associated with M2M/IoT business. The market development activities would involve meeting the customers from different sectors in different geographies, explain the value proposition of Thuraya M2M/IoT services and generate interest in our M2M/IoT services.
    • Market development activities should be carried out in line with the agreed market strategy and in close coordination with the SP’s and/or regional directors.
    • Deliver a deep understanding of market need from interaction with customers, partners and relevant teams within Thuraya.
    • Create and maintain a best in class roadmap for the products within the role’s portfolio.
    • Analyze commercial performance and quality of service for the product within the role’s portfolio and address variations from the business plan.
    • Build strong collaborative relationships with internal teams particularly the Distribution, Marketing, Communications and Product & Solutions Development.
    • Implement, facilitate and conduct thorough and comprehensive periodic reviews with partners and key sales team members.
    • Represent Thuraya in various M2M/IoT related international events and exhibitions.
    • Manage the performance of subordinates and ensure achievement of individual and team KPIs.
    • Lead subordinates and provide them with technical guidance, training and the required growth opportunities to ensure that they are developed for higher-level roles.
    • Provide direction and support to members of the extended team.
    • Own the Revenue, Capex and Opex budget for M2M/IoT product line and implement necessary strategy to achieve the revenue target.
    • Demonstrate an aptitude for working collaboratively , hosting multi-disciplinary workshops and developing ideas in an innovative environment. ♦ Attend trade shows and conferences to support launches and gather competitive information as required
    • Understand customer needs to ensure programs and services meet those needs and engage intimately with customers on an ongoing basis
    • Be able to lead through competence and command of the subject matter and be happy to present to large audiences on matters of the programs
    • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the Company
  • Required Skills and Experience

    • At least 10 years of global leadership experience in project and product management, marketing strategy and execution.
    • At least 5 years of experience in IoT/M2M technologies and product management.
    • Proven expertise in connected devices, enterprise software and innovative products.
    • Startup experience and ability to formulate effective product portfolio business plan and strategy.
    • Satellite or Telecom industry experience in a leadership function.
    • Strong knowledge of market development and product management trends within Satellite Telecommunication / Telecommunication industry.
    • Ability to deliver against set work objective and targets.
    • Strong Technical aptitude – ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
    • Strong Problem solving skills – brings a problem solving mindset to any challenging situation.
    • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
    • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal negotiation skills.
    • Possess a strong communication, report writing and presentation skills.
