Thuraya, Yahsat attend reception hosted by UAE Embassy in Washington D. C.
The UAE Embassy in Washington D.C. hosted a reception on Wednesday, March 14th to honour the Chief Executive Officers of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) and Thuraya Telecommunications Company.

The two executives were in Washington to highlight the dramatic progress the UAE has made in the satellite sector.
Around 300 of the space industry's top executives, US government officials, various embassy officials and delegations from other nations recognised the UAE's burgeoning satellite and space industry at the event which took place on the sidelines of the Satellite 2012 Conference.
Samer Halawi, CEO of Thuraya, and Tareq Abdel Raheem Al Hosani, CEO of Yahsat, both presented during the event and discussed how the UAE has taken a leadership role in the satellite and satellite communications sectors.
Dubai-based Thuraya is a leading international mobile satellite services operator, which provides services and telecommunications solutions in over 140 countries. Abu Dhabi-based Yahsat had its first successful commercial satellite launch in April 2011. Yahsat Y1A is delivering data and voice signals to over 80 countries in the region.
Halawi told the audience that: "Thuraya is an international company which offers satellite communications over two thirds of the world. Our dual mode satphones and our Thuraya IP broadband modems are the most capable and the most competitive in the industry. We pride ourselves in serving our commercial and government consumers with secure solutions through a congestion-free network characterized by its reliability and capacity. Thuraya's products are now amongst the most competitive in the MSS market." Thuraya and Yahsat spearhead the satellite industry in the UAE, producing innovative progress in satellite technology.
For his part, Al Hosani spoke on the importance of innovation in the industry. "This event provided the perfect opportunity to showcase the progress that Yahsat has made in support of the UAE government's satellite ambitions. Our state-of-the-art multi-purpose satellites and forward thinking approach allows us to offer governments and commercial entities, across the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia, with satellite communication services for military, broadband and broadcast communications."
